Published in September 2017 and originally appearing as a large format A4 hardback via solo Pledge campaign this book/songbook proved to be incredibly popular and, although it took a long time to write, it sold out very quickly. There are no hardback versions left.
Luckily, this smaller-sized (B5) paperback version is now available – 1 or 2 typos have been corrected and there are a couple of alternative photos and doodles.
What started off as a simple songbook with lyrics, chords and background to songs from ‘Don’t Let The Bastards Grind You Down’ and ‘Roll To The Left’, morphed into this unique hybrid of memoir, social history, musings, personal photo collection and tales from the tracks leading from Limerick in the Mid-West of Ireland, on to Oban on the West Coast of Scotland, down to Hanwell in the West of London via the South Coast of England. And many points in between.
It's called a snapshot ‘partial’ autobiography as it picks out stories from over the years and covers the formation of The Men They Couldn’t Hang as well as various other musical adventures.
You’ll meet a varied cast of characters within these pages – some will know very well. This is by no means a complete and definitive story - I’m already working on ideas for a follow-up. Hopefully, you’ll find these reveries of some interest. I certainly enjoyed writing them – even though it took me a lot longer than I could possibly have imagined.
Oh, yes, there’s also a songbook section at the back covering all the songs from ‘Roll To The Left’ and the Pledge Exclusive ‘Don’t Let The Bastards Grind You Down’
120 pages of stories, doodles, photos and songs.
And if that wasn't enough - it also comes with 18 track download included here!
“A wonderful book, really good! Not just the usual thing that bands put together just to raise some money: it's a real book, very, very nice. Something to be proud of” - Massimo Pulleghini.
“Brilliant, Swill you have a way of making people feel part of your journey, could hear your voice as I read it. Any TMTCH fans who have not yet read it...buy it! No you can't borrow mine” – Jackie Mills
